We’re not only a furniture and event rental company with a love of creating cosy, warm events and experiences but we’re on a mission to teach couples how to DIY their own weddings like the masteros we know you can be!

When my cofounder and hubby, Brett and I were planning our wedding we couldn’t find the type of furniture we wanted – it just didn’t exist, annd, to top it off what was available was really expensive and lacked any personality – it was way too hard!!
Plusss, we totally understand that it’s hard knowing where to start!! Beyond drinking two bottles of champagne post proposal, we really didn’t know what venue options were available, how to stock your own bar or questions to ask vendors.
And you know what?? You DESERVE better than that!!
Swell is a boutique hire company born with a mission to provide you with individual hire items that don’t look the same as everyone else’s AND an education service that takes you from novice to knowledgeable faster than you can say first dance!
Every piece we own has to meet our (self-imposed!) criteria for either being one of a kind, vintage or hand crafted.
Where possible we’ll support local, working with Dunedin’s super talented tradespeople and craftsman who continuously inspire us with their skill (fun fact, acid dipping isn’t just what you did to your jeans in the bathtub in the 80’s but the best way to remove 50-year-old lead-based paint from almost anything!).

If we say we’ll do something we will! We believe every couple deserves a stress-free wedding day and we’re about providing exceptional service every step of the way.
We’re all about service that’s clear, upfront, isn’t confusing and is flexible enough to work around you!
Down to earth:
We don’t do drama! You’ll find us down to earth, easy to communicate with and very practical.
We don’t mind you asking lots of questions because it’s your piece of mind that’s important and you haven’t done this before.
Experience:
We work mostly with spaces that aren’t conventional (90% of our events are held at “nontraditional” venues!). Want a back yard soiree? We’re in! Interested in a venue with poles in unusual places? Leave it up to us to know the tricks to working around these while still getting the look you’re after and don’t worry - if something isn’t going to work we’ll tell you then find ways to achieve your vision.
